Meet the residents

The majority of our residents come from less than desirable circumstances, such as hoarding and cruelty situations.  They often arrive with illness or injury, making their road to recovery a bit of a challenge.  We embrace these opportunities to change their lives and to see them blossom and smile again.  Here are just a few of the friends here at The Farm, both past & present.  We hope you enjoy!

Max's new legs!

Max and his mama, Adira, arrived here late on a cold evening in January, 2021.  The following morning, it was apparent that he was suffering from contracted tendons in his front legs.  A quick trip to the hardware store and then the medical closet here at the Farm, and he had splints made of pipe insulation, duct tape and vet wrap.  Two weeks later, splints came off and we never looked back.  Success!

Old Man gilly

Old Man Gilly, most senior of all residents here at 11 years old, arrived at the sanctuary approximately 1.5 years ago.  He was in poor overall condition, undernourished and had never had a loose mineral (necessary for all goats) in his life.  In fall, 2021, Gilly was found hypothermic in the yard and unable to stand, let alone walk.  He was immediately brought inside, warmed slowly and tests were run.  In the weeks to follow, he received supportive care, several medications and supplements and physio to keep his legs stretched, since he was unable to move.  After using a lift and sling to begin to get Gilly on his feet, he surprised us by pulling out his "get up and go".  We had another 10 months with our wonderful old man, until his body decided that it was time.  We lost our lovely boy on 10/19/2022 - gone, but never forgotten.

Road trip!

One of our most favorite road trips taken was to get Livvy.  Livvy was the only surviving kid, losing her siblings and her mom just after delivery.  Blind and suffering from neurological issues, her previous owners simply didn't have the time, nor the resources, to help her.  She made great strides here at the Farm, and slowly mapped the yard area, learning some commands and cues to ensure that she didn't get herself into a bad situation. Though she is no longer with us, she was a love bug, vocal and we miss her so much!
